A Rough Start

WOW!!! Let me repeat... WOW! It's been two weeks already! Two long and painful weeks! As Mitch mentioned in the last posting (which I think he did an awesome job on) I had complications with my epidural and had to deliver naturally... not so much fun, but what can you do? I ended up with a Spinal headache which was the most excruciating pain I've ever felt! We got home on Wednesday and he took me back on Thursday to have a "blood patch" done. Again, not a pleasant experience, but well worth it- for a day that is! My headache was totally gone after the procedure and all day Friday, but returned on Saturday and Sunday- not half as bad thankfully, but still painful enough to have me down flat most of the time. After many prayers and blessings, the headache finally left when Creed was one week old. It was so nice to wake up and have my back, neck and head feel normal again! But then the next day, I developed some rather embarrasing complications located on the southern most region of my body that I will not go into details about... let's just say it's uncomfortable and painful! So the prayers and blessings are still happening and I really hope I am on the mend. At least I can walk and get out of a chair today!
But onto a more positive note... Creed is coming up on two weeks old, and he's been such a cute baby! I will post a bunch of pics that we've had fun taking. He seems to be a little fussy, but he may just be trying to adjust to this strange life- we hope!
Many many thanks to my wonderful husband and mom who have been caring for me for these past days and weeks! I could not have survived without you both and I love you to infinity and beyond!
We caught Creed in this pose right before I was going to feed him... a blessing on the food???

The kids just love him... especially Madeline- she's a great sister!

One of those "sweet dreams" smiles caught on camera at just the right moment! I love it!

Gee, I can't believe it--I just got home and this morning there is news on the blog! You are doing beautifully well, Car. In spite of all the "not bouncing through this as usual", you really need to know you are doing a great job. It's been a while since you've had a new baby, and it does take some adjusting. You can do it! I love the pictures, esp. that cute little one of Creed smiling. Be sure to include that in any announcements you send out. Much love, Mom

Sorry to hear you've had a rough start. I hope you recover quickly. I must say...he's so stinkin' cute! I love it when babies smile while they're sleeping. Can't wait to see more pictures of him.

I have a friend who is really into oils and natural remedies. I will ask her if she knows of anything to help with the "issues" (mom filled me in...) I hope you get feeling better! I would love to come over and help out if you need me just holler! Creed is a cutie, but then again, so are all of your kids! I love you, and am thinking of you!

Oh girl!!! I'm so sorry for you. I had a "wet tap" epidural this past time and it ended up numbing the vast majority of my body. They had to stop my contractions for two hours and everything. They told me afterwards to watch out for a "spinal headache" and that if I got one, a "blood patch" would probably be necessary. I was SO lucky to not have it happen to me. I can't imagine what you've been going through. Good luck.
And Brandon has that same little blue and yellow striped outfit that Creed has on. How CUTE!!! They are meant to be buddies.

Fussy baby???? Try this -- cut dairy for a week and see what happens -- milk, cheese, sour cream, some salad dressings, ice cream, etc. It's the 1st thing the pediatrician will tell you to do (speaking for unfortunate experience here). Dairy is terribly hard on baby tummies. I'm a believer....and so are Lauren and Anna.

You did get off to a rough start! Luckily, Creed is adorable and makes it all worth it, right?? I laughed hysterically at the 'blessing of the food' picture. How fun. I hope you get feeling better soon. We need to chat. I'll call you soon!
